gb001 is a computer player on Dailygammon (DG). Dailygammon is a turn based backgammon site. gb001 is based on GNU Backgammon, one of the strongest backgammon computer programs available. You can play against gb001, and you can have it analyse positions of your matches on dailygammon.
First of all you need an account on Dailygammon. Then just visit gb001's player page on DG and invite it to a match. (You can also find gb001's player page on DG by pointing your browser to the DG "Game Lounge", scrolling down and entering "gb001" in the field "Find players whose name starts with". In the following page, click on gb001.)
Once invited, the match should start within about a minute.
You can only play friendly (unrated) matches against gb001, it doesn't play in tournaments. Five active matches per player only.
When you come across a position in any match on DG for which you would like to have GNU Backgammon's opinion concerning a move or a cube decision, you can ask gb001 to analyse the position:
Review the match on DG by clicking on the "Review" link in the match listing. You'll reach a page listing all moves of the selected match. Now click on the roll / cube decision you want to have analyzed. You can then use the "next / prev." links to navigate through the match. Once you reached the correct position, copy the URL from the browser's address bar. The URL should look like this:
http://www.dailygammon.com/bg/game/<match no.>/<0 or 1>/<move no.>
Go to gb001's player page on DG and send the URL as quick message to gb001.
If the positions belongs to a game which is already finished, you'll receive a quick message with the URL pointing to a web page containing the analysis of your position. If the game is active, the request is put in the position queue and analyzed once the game is finished. Again you'll be informed by a quick message.
On the position page you can query for all your analyzed positions as well as for your positions which are in the queue
